220 000 people at the 'Festival of Life' in Zimbabwe - 06 June 2010

“Festival of Life” with Joyce Meyer & Hillsong ministries.
God is on the move in Zimbabwe. Yes, there are remarkable physical changes taking place, but more importantly there is a growing hunger for God and unity among the churches. This month Harare played host to the “Festival of Life”, a joint project with the Hillsong Band and Joyce Meyer Ministries. ACTS Harare counts it a privilege to have played a pivotal role in hosting the various teams associated with this event. Coordinating the movements of foreign teams in 15 separate vehicles, criss-crossing the city can be mind boggling!
The people of Zimbabwe responded warmly. The highlight of the event proved to be the final evening on which 220,000 people gathered in an enormous open air meeting. This was the largest gathering Zimbabwe had seen since independence. The meeting saw people from different churches, races and social backgrounds coming together to worship one God and receive a timely word of forgiveness and love. The response was amazing and has contributed to a newfound unity among the church, with many comitted to see the Kingdom of God come in Zimbabwe.
There is an increasing sense of God stirring the nation and the church – we look forward with eager anticipation to see what the months ahead hold.
ACTS Volunteers Zimbabwe
The project continues to slowly grow and it is a joy to see the deep impact this country is having on those that come to serve with us. Most leave vowing to return and bring others. Upon hearing of our volunteer project and the children’s homes we serve, Darlene Chzech, along with other members of the Hillsong band decided to join our volunteers in visiting Mount Zion Children’s Home. The afternoon was filled with toys, fun and games, dancing and acoustic worship to end off with.
