Acts Volunteers Vision

VISION

Building Bridges
To build a bridge joining Christ’s followers in Africa with believers from around the world, in reaching individuals and communities with the love of God.

MISSION STATEMENT

Providing and facilitating
ACTS Volunteers exists to advance the Kingdom of God by capacity-building church-based initiatives in Africa, and to serve the vision of international churches for foreign missions, by providing and facilitating effective short-term volunteer placements in Africa.

CORE OBJECTIVE

Profoundly impact and encourage
To facilitate ministry that sees African believers and international volunteers profoundly impacted and encouraged by Christ in each other: a mutually beneficial experience of God.

GOALS

  • Passionate interest
Engender a passionate interest in foreign missions in a generation of Christians seemingly losing interest in the call to traditional intercultural missions.
  • Assistance and support
Profoundly impact African communities with the love of Jesus Christ by offering hands on assistance and support to churches and community members at grassroots level.
  • Meet needs
Meet expressed needs and offer relevant assistance to afflicted communities and people groups in Africa.
  • Biblical discipleship
Offer relevant, biblical discipleship to local African and international communities and volunteers.

OPERATIONAL PRINCIPLES – HOW ACTS VOLUNTEERS WORKS

  • Kingdom focused
ACTS identifies existing projects that are Kingdom-focused, effective, sustainable and enthusiastic about receiving volunteer support. By attaching volunteers to serve projects that both pre-existed the volunteer’s placement, and will continue after he/she leaves, ACTS ensures that the volunteer’s investment of resources, time and passion will have a long-term impact.
  • Meeting needs
ACTS provides facilitators who are an interface between the projects and our volunteers. ACTS facilitators are followers of Christ who are trained to meet the needs of volunteers and to ensure that volunteers are productive and fulfilled whilst making a meaningful contribution to the projects we support.
  • Valuable social interaction
ACTS provides all accommodation, food, transport and other logistical requirements, making African missions accessible to a volunteer with no previous experience, and ensuring that this burden of responsibility is not carried by the projects and ministries we support. This also provides the valuable social interaction and shared experience that volunteers enjoy and benefit from.
  • Funding supports projects
ACTS Volunteers are self-funded and are required to pay a fee that covers all essential needs during their time in Africa. This fee includes as a 10% project donation that is channelled directly to the projects we support.
  • Uplifting African communities
ACTS Volunteers contribution is always intended to uplift African communities and individuals by a combination of practical development and a commitment to growth in Christ. We take care to ensure that ACTS-supported programs develop maturity and freedom – not dependence.
  • Scenic beauty and wildlife
ACTS Volunteers are exposed to the beauty, wildlife and local attractions of the areas in which they work. Hard work is balanced with enjoying the sights, wildlife, experiences and attractions of Africa.
